The Aurora 20th Anniversary Book of Scottish Country Dances was published in time for the 20th Anniversary May Ball, 12 2016. All sixteen dances were devised by Aurora members, many inspired by significant events in the history of Aurora. A number of dances from the 20th Anniversary Book featured on the programme for the Aurora Ball in May 2016. The full list includes:-
Are Ye Dizzy Yet? – a 32 bar reel for 3 couples.
Bell Curve (The) – a 32 bar strathspey for 3 couples.
Burgie House – a 48 bar strathspey for 3 couples, named after our now long standing February weekend away.
Dancer’s Road (The) – a 40 bar reel for 4 couples.
How Does It Start? – a 40 bar jig for 4 couples, inspired by everyone stating “Cross, cast, half figure of eight” whenever someone asked “How does it start?”
Isla – a 40 bar reel for 4 couples.
Irish Zim Jig – a 128 bar jig for 4 couples in a square set, written to mark the marriage of two Aurora members, one from Ireland, one from Zimbabwe.
Ladies First! – a 32 bar reel for 4 couples.
Long John Diamond – a 32 bar strathspey for 4 couples.
Marykirk Reel – a 32 bar reel for 4 couples in a square set.
Scapa Flow – a 40 bar reel for 3 couples.
Setting Around at Home / My girlfriend’s at the Ball – a 32 bar jig for 4 couples.
Square Mixer (the) – a 96 bar jig for 4 couples in a square set.
Sweet Sixteen – a 32 bar reel for 4 couples.
Three Teapot Mix – a 32 bar jig for 5 couples.
Tiia the trucker – a 48 bar jig for 4 couples, written on discovery that one of Aurora’s smallest members drove trucks.
